My friend says he is wary of me?

Alot happened between us, there were feelings involved in a more than friends way but we stayed 'just friends'. He goes back and forth between saying he remembers it but differently, saying he remembers it like I did but I misinterpreted, saying he has no recollection of those days at all, saying he remembers those days but not those events. I didnt contact him any more often than other friends but yet he says I did so constantly. I rang him late a few times because I had recieved messages from him that would be better spoken about over phone and he was showing up as fully online so I thought it would be ok but he now uses that against me as if I meant it maliciously or something. He says he knows im an honest and good person. He really confuses me. Can anyone shed any light on what might be up here?
