Stage 4 throat cancer...?

My boyfriend's father was just diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer... the Dr's said he has 6 months if he gets treated... and much less if he does not. My boyfriend doesnt want to deal with this (his dad's mortality) understandably... but are there better outcomes out there for stage 4 throat cancer??? His father has no money.. (litterally on the brink of homeless)so treatment seems like not an option. how can I help my bf??
