Can a foreigner wear a military costume in Bangkok?

I was going to wear a WWII uniform for halloween, when I'll be in Bangkok, Thailand. I heard they have a great halloween party in one of the districts, and being a white America, thought it would be cool to bring my authentic WWII uniform and steel pot helmet to wear around. I'm all packed, but now heard a rumor that the Thai police have banned any and all military style clothing in Thailand? Is this true? That sounds pretty crazy to me. Would that apply to only Thai citizens, or would an older white guy be exempt?
