How come the trailblazers gave braqndon roy the extension if he is a cancer to his team?

No way can a team give a player that much $ for sitting in street clothes.there are mascots and cheerleaders who have a much more dangerous job and they do not get paid thta much money. all i see roy do is sit on the bench.
